Real Happiness
It is always HERE both when you are happy and when you are unhappy.
We all know the warm feelings and even somewhat high emotions of happiness after a meditation, after yoga, or just by walking in the woods, or after having an insight about something, or talking to a good friend. We feel so alive, energy is flowing again in us, we feel healthy and inspired. We start seeing all areas of our lives even the not so comfortable parts as holy and part of the divine plan. We are happy and feeling so lucky about our lives. Everything is shining in the light of the happiness and flow that we are experiencing right now. We could even say: oh yes, this is it! I have arrived! This must be what all the spiritual and inspirational books are talking about. This state I am in now is the proof that I am happiness, I am truth and love.
Then after a while, even the next day, or in the next hour something changes. Problems are coming up, your body gets tired quite naturally, your child calls you and you start to worry, your partner is in a bad mood, you see that you do not like your job and you should change it, some colleagues or family member are behaving in a harmful way and you get sick of seeing their disgusting ignorant behavior. It makes you even see your own bad behaviors or the tendency towards such acts so you even see the same ego in you. You might feel the helplessness of the human nature. You might even see the futility of ever being able to be happy as a human being. All of a sudden your energy is going low, your chakras are not in balance anymore. You do not even want to do your meditation or other exercises to come back into alignment again because this is already the thousandth time that you tried that, but you lose happiness again and again! Somehow you see now that these are states of mind and they cannot be controlled. What now? You have arrived to an edge. You realize that you were looking for happiness in a happy state of mind. But you want Real happiness, Lasting happiness.
Let’s say that you are willing to stop at this point. You welcome the feeling of disappointment. You welcome your powerlessness to control mindstates. You welcome your feelings and thoughts about human behaviors, which can be disgusting sometimes. You invite the disgust, you embrace whatever is here. You might ask yourself: what is this feeling? What am I experiencing? Mhhm, interesting. I am curious what else is here. What happens when I just let all the experiences be here as it is. What if I do not do anything right now with it? Give up all fixing and the hope to get happiness. Welcome what is here. Give yourself a few moments.
All of a sudden you drop into this unnameable awareness, which is free, and ALWAYS free and light. You „become it“ or let us say your mind disappears in IT and IT shines through your form. And you realize that both the happy state and the unhappy state that you experience in your life are NOT TRUE. They are both just experiences. The happy and the unhappy states are the same. The happy state is of course more promising and feels good but that is not the ultimate happiness. You experience it, you feel it but it is an experience which comes and goes. Just like the states of disgust, anger and fear are also an experience that come and go. What is true is that which never comes and never goes. What is true is what is aware of what comes and goes. This unnameable Presence that is aware of the happy meditative state and aware of the disgusted, resisting state. You are this presence. You are the KNOWER. You KNOW about the comings and goings of states of mind. You are not the comings and goings. The comings and goings are objects in awareness. You are aware of the mind. You are aware of your happiness and you are aware of your unhappiness. You are FREE of these states. You are Freedom. You are happiness. You are nothingness. Your mind is appearing in You. So if you are nothingness and the mind is appearing in you, the mind is also nothing, isn`t it? No-thing. Realizing this is real lasting happiness.
You have the choice to turn your mind towards its source, towards its awareness, to nothingness. Then peace is bubbling up from there even filling up the mind with peace. And this awareness is free of all states and yet it is aware of all the states. It is always happy and unmoved. You are always this bliss and unmoved. Who you really are is light and peaceful and has nothing to do with highs and lows of “your” life.
When you taste Yourself as this light, smooth, soothing peaceful bliss, it will fill your body and mind like fresh water so that what remains is only this freshness, lightness, easiness. This is your true nature. This is real happiness. You are endless being in which everything appears and disappears…You are the silence in which the happy you and unhappy you appears. But this you is just and appearance. You are the silence, all else is just a movie. It is a dream. So now if you know that your life is a dream, why be afraid of it? You can make the changes if you want, or not. You might find a better job or better partner and your life will be better, you will be in a happier state. That’s great. But even if it does not happen, you will not care, because you are content and happy because you know who you really are. Happiness itself.
